About the founder
I’m Ellen Stewart, the founder of AdoptDigitalData. After more than 25 years working in clinical data management, I became increasingly curious about how digital data workflows could reduce the manual burden on CDM teams and improve the way studies are designed and executed. That curiosity led to deeper learning, which grew into passion and ultimately an intrinsic sense of purpose. I thought this would be a future career path, but digital transformation is possible in clinical development, NOW. So, I launched AdoptDigitalData to do my part help accelerate this movement. Today, I’m committed to helping teams move toward more efficient, connected, and future‑ready ways of working.
My Journey into Digital Data
2024/2025: Heard about the promise of “building a database in a day” but didn’t really understand how that would work exactly.
Dec 2025: Followed my curiosity through many websites and YouTube videos about the topic. Took a Git class so I could navigate GitHub.
Jan 2026: Started the upskilling journey, not sure where exactly I was going with this.
Observed a FHIR Vulcan Connectathon for Schedule of Activities
Completed USDM training from CDISC, earning CEUs
Feb 2026: Still thinking about digital data flow…. where could I fit in this industry transformation?
March 2026: Couldn’t stop thinking about how I would dialog with emerging biopharma to adopt digital data workflows.
April 2026: Installed Open Study Builder locally and start testing digital data flow for myself.
May 2026: Soft launched AdoptDigitalData.
October 2026: Will be attending CDISC US Interchange in Denver to build my network of other folks looking to advance the future state of clinical development.
